DR. RAHAL’S COMPLETE GUIDE TO CAPSULAR CONTRACTURE

How to Treat Capsular Contracture: The Latest Surgical and Non-Invasive Options

Getting symptoms of capsular contracture is scary.

Many patients fear having to have another surgery.

If you have symptoms of capsular contracture there is good news for you. New, NON-INVASIVE options are now available.

Dr. William Rahal is a breast and body surgeon in Beverly Hills. With this focus, he invests in the latest technologies and treatments proven to help patient outcomes.

These options are a great alternative to surgery. They have a high success rate. And it’s at a fraction of the cost of surgery, only $3,500 to $4,500.

And if you do need surgery, Dr. Rahal uses new treatments that greatly reduce the risk of capsular contracture returning.

Your options depend on the stage of capsular contracture. Non-invasively.

Aspen, the Non-Surgical Treatment of Capsular Contracture

An ultrasound machine known as Aspen is the best non-invasive treatment for capsular contracture.

THIS TREATMENT USES A SPECIFIC TYPE OF ULTRASOUND TO BREAK THE HARDENING AROUND THE IMPLANT, BREAKING THE CAPSULE. This is a very successful and non-invasive option for capsular contracture.

This treatment has a 90% success rate in eliminating capsular contracture.

Dr. Rahal is the first plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills to invest in this technology. (It is being used throughout the United States.) Given the number of his patients that undergo breast augmentation, he felt that this tool was key to providing the best possible aftercare following surgery.

Beautiful, natural results that you are thrilled with is only one important part of this procedure. Proper aftercare is another.

Dr. Rahal encourages you to do your own research on capsular contracture. He also invites you to come to a consultation with questions. The best patients are informed patients. Dr. Rahal will further discuss capsular contracture during your consultation.

Here are RealSelf reviews by three more of Dr. Rahal’s patients:

Surgical Treatment of Capsular Contracture

More advanced capsular contracture, called “Stage 4”, usually requires a “remove and replace” revision surgery. In this surgery, the implant is removed and replaced by another one. It is also referred to as a capsulectomy.

This surgery starts at $16,000 in Dr. Rahal’s practice. Unfortunately a revision surgery is more expensive than a breast augmentation because it is more complex and takes more time in the Operating Room.

During this surgery, new implants are placed in the breast pocket. Some patients use this as an opportunity to get a different implant size if they were unsatisfied with their choice in their original procedure.

Dr. Rahal highly recommends that the new implant be placed with the use of an advanced mesh technology called Strattice. It helps reduce the risk of another capsule and provides many other benefits. Read more about Strattice below.

Why Strattice is a Must for Breast Revision Surgery

If you are considering surgical treatment for capsular contracture, be sure to ask your surgeon about Strattice. It is a biological mesh placed over the new implant.

Using Strattice will greatly reduce the chances of having capsular contracture again. It lowers the risk of infection, lowers inflammation, and promotes tissue regeneration.

Strattice is helpful whether this is your first time dealing with a capsule or if you have had this issue more than once. Dr. Rahal believes Strattice should be the standard of care for any Remove and Replace surgery because it is so effective.

Unfortunately, there are patients who have had several surgical revisions without being aware of Strattice. Using it would have helped prevent the need for further surgery.

Strattice also better controls where the implant is placed and holds during a revision surgery. Complications that may occur, such as rippling, scar tissue or implant drifting are controlled by Strattice.
